  • Course Description Glossary

    Students will be able to foster an appreciation of literature and develop creative skills in public speaking and performance. Students will analyze various literary forms (poetry, novels, plays, letters, diaries, etc.) as texts for oral presentation. Students will explore oral traditions and other nonliterary sources and events as oral presentation material. Class exercises introduce vocal, physical and other speaking techniques to effectively communicate a point of view. Recommended: College-level reading and writing skills are highly recommended for success in this course.

  Prose Interpretation

    Prose Presentation	Resources	Grading Procedure
    During this week Students will explore presentation techniques in Prose.  Prose is described as follows:  is a form of language that exhibits a grammatical structure and a natural flow of speech, rather than a rhythmic structure as in traditional poetry. Where the common unit of verse is based on meter or rhyme, the common unit of prose is purely grammatical, such as a sentence or paragraph. Students will be responsible for preparing an Analysis Form (found below) and presenting a Prose piece.  Below are specifics regarding guidelines and grading.   Reader's Theater

  • STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

    Reader's Theatre Presentation	Resources	Grading Procedure
    During this week Students will explore presentation techniques in Reader's Theatre.  Reader's Theater techniques include mastery in the following: collaboration within a team in order to present a radio drama and/or portion of a stage play; use techniques acquired throughout the quarter to support an effective presentation.  Students will be responsible for preparing an Analysis Form (found below) and presenting a role in a collaborative Reader's Theatre piece.  Below are specifics regarding guidelines and grading.
