    Exercises, games and discussion notes are logged daily for the purposes of building a Creative Drama portfolio.

    Students will complete classroom logs documenting activities and discussions that support the development and execution of Creative Drama exercises.

    Templates are made available online to support the logging of information and activities.  Specific links to a variety of techniques are also provided
    Students will utilize the logged exercises and discussion notes to support their development of a curriculum based lesson plan.
    Rubric provided for grading criteria of Activity Log Book.

    Students build knowledge of principles and practices of Creative Drama (CD) and its application within a classroom environment. 

    Students will be responsible for articulating the application of CD exercises within a classroom through participation and group work.

    OER materials used in Reading Logs are provided to support students' participation in activities and discussions.
    Students will have the opportunity to practice the knowledge and skills that will be needed to succeed on the final assessment.
    Students will receive in class verbal and written response via rubric.

  • Promoting Literacy Development

    Using Drama and Theatre To Promote Literacy Development

    Students will engage in basic classroom applications of Creative Drama and how to support literacy and comprehension.

    Reading materials and classroom engagement in activities.
    Students identify multiple ways of applying CD in literacy development using literature curriculum for all ages.
    Written evaluation via rubric which will be provided prior to completion of objectives.

  • Cooperative Learning

    Cooperative Learning techniques and the application of classroom strategies  place ownership of teaching and learning as a shared experience between both students and teacher.

    Students develop skills to finding a solution to a problem or acquiring a new knowledge by utilizing cooperative learning structures.

    Guidelines identifying Cooperative Learning techniques, strategies and application are review in class, within the learning module and in class activities.
    Students will develop strategies for encouraging cooperative learning
    Rubric provided identifying grading criteria and objectives needed to be accomplished.

    Students will identify areas where  Creative Drama is successfully utilized in kindergarten and first grade classrooms.

    Students will log exercises for future use in both Midterm and Final projects.

  • Structuring a Creative Drama Activity

    Creative drama exercises can be adapted for specific pedagogical goals or for aesthetic purposes.  Creating an exercise that will be age appropriate with a specific objective.

    Students will be responsible for building a Creative Drama activity that utilizes the skills and knowledge obtained from prior course assignments.

    Guidelines identifying requirements of the assignment are as well as supplemental reading materials are provided within learning module.
    Students will prepare a ten minute Creative Drama exercise with supporting analysis of activity.
    Rubric provided prior for both the execution of the of the activity as well as the analysis.

  • Application of Creative Drama

    Utilizing the techniques of Creative Drama to teach multiple subjects.

    Students will apply Creative Drama techniques and strategies to build lesson plans for subjects (i.e. mathematics, science, history, etc.)

    Multiple resources are provided and used to develop strategies which are then reviewed and discussed in class.
    Students will participate in the execution of the curriculum based activities.
    Students will be graded on their ability to execute activity and articulate its significance during classroom participation.

  • Developing a Curriculum Unit

    Develop an understanding and skills in creating a one hour lesson plan using Creative Drama.  Curriculum will be based on the Oregon Department of Education Academic Content Standards.

    Students choose a subject that coincides with a specific age group found one the Oregon Department of Education Academic Content Standards page.  Through review and experimentation in class activities students will gain knowledge and skills the structure of a CD lesson plan.

    Students will create a one-hour lesson plan utilizing Creative Drama as a teaching tool for a curriculum unit.

  • FINAL

    15 minute section of the one hour lesson plan, students prepare, using Creative Drama is demonstrated in class as Final Project.  Curriculum unit will be based on the Oregon Department of Education Academic Content Standards.

    Students will present a portion of the one-hour lesson plan they developed utilizing classmates as 'students' in lesson.  One-hour CD Lesson Plan will be completed and submitted through Moodle

    Students will actively engage in the demonstration of a Creative Drama exercise that is used as teaching tool for a curriculum unit.
