I think it would be fun and a great learning experience to build a little autonomous vehicle, maybe a modified RC car first, maybe a lightweight airplane later.
We could use a robotics platform like a raspberry pi or arduino and some sensors, starting small with something like a line following car, or a car that could navigate down a hallway without hitting the walls. If that goes well we could expand into more difficult tasks, like a maze or navigating across the courtyard.
This project would benefit from people interested in robotics, C/C++, or electrical engineering. I expect it would be rather difficult and probably last several semesters.
