My favorite book that I read recently is Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield. It provides the perspectives of a marine biologist who got stranded in a submarine at the bottom of the ocean under suspicious and somewhat supernatural circumstances, and her wife, who is witnessing the marine biologist's behavior after resurfacing and slowly coming to terms with the fact that even though her spouse is back on land, she has changed. It has poetic writing, spooky underwater descriptions, a realistic portrayal of grief, and just enough magic and horror.
