I recently watched a Netflix documentary called, A Social Dilema. They interviewed former top executives from the largest apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Youtube, TikTok, and so on.
They are former executives because what they created for good, is now being used to manipulate the population for their time. Time spent on social media apps is what makes these companies money. It is a provocative and frightening reality of what is happening and what could happen.
One of the things that stuck with me the most was something one of them said. “We live in a society where things are more valuable dead then they are alive.” It really hit deep. I sat there for a few minutes thinking about this realizing he was right. A whale is worth more dead than alive. A tree is worth more dead than alive. Even a person, is worth more dead then alive, when their organs can be transplanted. It is very frightening and morbid.
