STUDENT-PRACTICE: Delete or Edit Discussion Posts

Is there any way to delete or edit discussion posts made on Moodle?

I see now that I have the option to do both here. However, I can't on the "Practice Forum" board and would like to.

You should be able to delete or edit your own discussion posts in the practice forum, but only within a half hour of posting.

Why is that? That doesn't feel right considering these posts become (permanently?) public and searchable.
