Why is a chromebook not recommended for classes?

I don't understand, as most of my other friends have chromebooks and they say their zoom calls, and school work are perfectly fine.

I believe it may be because some instructors still post Word and PowerPoint files, rather than Google Docs.

Oh no I just purchased a chromebook to use for class! I also have a desktop that I am on right now but I wanted to use the Chromebook on my breaks while I am at work.
